Houdini! That's what I should have named the little 12 pound mixed breed dog I brought home from the shelter a few years ago. No matter what I did, I could not keep him inside our back yard fence. It was an old chain link fence that was there when we bought our house and it wasn't in the best condition. There were a few spots on the ground where some other dog that used to live there had apparently dug their way to freedom. My dog Jack found every single place and was escaping regularly.
I did my best to fill in the spots and place boards along the bottom to try and keep him in, but to my surprise, one day I caught him actually about to climb over the top! He didn't make it, but as determined as I knew he was, it wouldn't be long and he would make it over. That's when I knew I had to find a new solution. I did when I went to http://www.doggybakery.org/cost-invisible-dog-fencing/.
An invisible fence has been the best thing for Jack and me. I picked the brand I thought would work best for us and had it installed. It was really a lot more affordable than I thought it would be. Now when I let Jack out in the back yard, I know he's not going anywhere. It didn't take long to train him and now he knows his boundaries. Plus, no more ugly chain link fence in my yard. Check into an invisible fence if you can't keep your dog in the yard. You will not regret it!
